Space of the week: White Living Room Walls

I have to confess i am a Pinterest addict, Not yet diagnosed but we are headed there.
So, i have been gathering inspiration for something am working on, and a brilliant idea come to mind.
I will be doing Space Of the week to share how different creative spaces have been transformed and given personalities. So this week we are doing white living room walls.

Yes, white living room. The colour is both delicate and luxurious at the same time. Gives the room a feel of fresh, radiant and calm.
Here is how we bring personality to the space.

1. Break the colour

I know i said white is radiant and beautiful on its own , But it being the dominant color in the room ,It can actually tone down the feel of the room, if it's not blended with other colors.
Like on the picture above, the white walls have been toned down by a mix of blue color, making the room look less delicate and more relaxed.
But don't over do the other colors and over shadow the radiant white walls.

2. Let art do the talking

Art has a way of being loud and quite at the same time. I love white walls, they give you a sense of heaven but when you add art you get heaven itself.Section a part of the room dedicated to art, This is where you express your own personalities, let the art say what you living room feels like.

3. Plant, Plants more plants

After a hectic day at the office and what feels like forever in traffic, all one wants is to get home and relax. What a better way to do this than add of fresh plants in your living room. Indoor plants are believed to boost your physical health and state of mind and they would also act as the breaker of white monotony.
You can choose exotic inspired plants like palms or go for a more easy to manage like potted herbs on the kitchen window.

4. Blending Furniture

When we think white, we always  have this "it goes with anything" kind of thought. Which is not true.
When choosing a furniture for living room with white walls and undertones of brown, its better to go with earthy colors for furniture and if the white paint has pale undertones, go for contemporary colors like navy blue.
Make sure your furniture fits perfectly to the space to avoid the feel of it being out of place or giving the room a squeezed feeling.

Your living room is the first place you walk into, Let it immediately calm your eyes, and restore the joy that traffic and whole day's work had stolen from you.

Its never that serious so have extreme fun, while decorating.
